Masa Restaurant in Derby City Centre
Located on Brook Street just outside of Derby city centre is a beautiful chapel that houses Masa Restaurant. Two minutes’ walk from The Maypole Inn and the Princess Alex Court hotel it is a perfect venue to host a special occasion, with the option of heading into the city afterwards. The superb quality of cuisine has been deservedly rewarded with 2 coveted AA rosettes.
Masa has gained fantastic reputation in the local area and was shortlisted for the ‘Best Restaurant’ award in Derby in 2009. It is set within the Grade II listed Wesleyan Chapel , a truly unique place to enjoy a meal. The chapel has a fantastic history behind it, with origins dating back over 200 years. People continued to worship in the chapel until 2002 when the decision was reluctantly made to it down. Since then, it has been beautifully, and sympathetically, restored to its former glory, with all of the additional amenities of a restaurant. It has retained many of the chapel’s original features.
The restaurant is split over two levels and the congregation area on the ground floor is now the bar and is open during lunch time service. The upper area overlooking the pulpit and ground floor is open for evening service.
The kitchen is headed by Jose Vega, an extremely talented chef who has worked hard to create an imaginative menu using the very best of local produce. The kitchen is very flexible when it comes to dietary requirements. On the menu you will find a fantastic selection of British dishes, packed with local produce such as the Pan Fried Fillet of Derbyshire Beef that comes with potato rosti, caramelised carrots and madeira wine jus.
Masa is a magical restaurant and diners will leave with the lasting memory of fabulous cuisine in beautiful and unique surroundings. Whether you are entertaining clients or holding your wedding reception you will not be disappointed. This restaurant is absolutely top class.
